The Atascocita Forest community features numerous amenities for residents' use and enjoyment, including:

Atascocita Forest is overseen by an HOA: Atascocita Forest Community Association, which is managed by a Board of Trustees elected from current homeowners. The Board meets monthly at 6:30pm on the 2nd Monday of each month to conduct the business of the community. Meetings are held at either the community pool facility or the offices of our management company, Goodwin & Co, located in Humble.

In addition to monthly meetings, an annual meeting of the association is normally held on the 2nd Monday of February, during which board members are elected by the community's homeowners.

Atascocita Forest is in Humble ISD, which was recently named a member of The Center for Safe and Secure Schools by the Harris County Department of Education. Whispering Pines Elementary and Humble Middle School, which were designated as AVID National Demonstration Schools, are located in our community, and high school students are zoned to nearby Humble High School. High School students may also apply to attend Humble ISD's innovative Quest Early College High School, which enables students to earn up to 2 years' worth of college credit at no cost while attending tuition-free high school.

In addition to public schools, Atascocita Forest residents are close to several quality private schools.

The neighborhood was developed in the mid 1970's by Mellon Mortgage Co., and many of the community's nearly 1600 homes were built during the Houston boom of the 1980's.

Atascocita is an unincorporated area of Harris County. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 65,844.

Atascocita is a large, affluent development located north and south of Farm to Market Road 1960, about 6 miles east of Humble and 18 miles northeast of downtown Houston in northeastern Harris County.

Bordered on its eastern shore by the 12,000-acre Lake Houston, the community contains several parks, country clubs, and golf courses, including Atascocita Country Club, Walden on Lake Houston Golf and Country Club, and Tour 18, a recreation of some of the United States' most celebrated golf holes.

Atascocita was named one of the "Best Places to Retire" by U.S. News & World Report, citing Lake Houston's boating and fishing opportunities and Atascocita's numerous golf courses.

Construction in the area began in the 1970s. In the 1990s Atascocita included fifteen neighborhoods and was one of the fastest-growing developments in the Greater Houston area.

In 2009, the Gadberry Group named Atascocita as one of "9 from 2009" most notable high growth areas in the United States. The 2010 census listed Atascocita's population as 65,844,up from 35,757 at the 2000 census.

Lake Houston is in the Atascocita area. Syd Kearney, author of A Marmac Guide to Houston and Galveston, said that Atascocita was "synonymous with golf, tennis, and other great recreational features on Lake Houston."^[9]

Harris County Precinct 4 operates the 136 acres Lindsay/Lyons Park and Sports Complex. The complex has barbecue grills, one barbecue pavilion, 10 lighted baseball fields, 2 lighted football fields, picnic tables, 2 playgrounds (one is an all-inclusive playground and toilet facility for children of all physical abilities), 4 lighted softball fields, 18 unlighted soccer fields, and toilet facilities. Additions added later in the park's life include a donor pavers garden, sensory garden for children with impaired sight, three 30-seat picnic pavilions, a paved walking trail around the playground, and additional trees.
